प्रदेश में महिलाओं को 30 प्रतिशत आरक्षण देने की व्यवस्था शासनादेश के माध्यम से की गई थी, जिसे हाईकोर्ट ने निरस्त कर दिया था।
इसके बाद सरकार की ओर से उत्तराखंड लोक सेवा (महिलाओं के लिए क्षैतिज आरक्षण) विधेयक सदन में प्रस्तुत किया गया था। इस विधेयक को विपक्ष का भी समर्थन मिला और इसे सर्वसम्मति से पारित कर दिया गया।
क्या है महिला आरक्षण बिल
उत्तराखंड लोकसेवा (महिलाओं के क्षैतिज आरक्षण) विधेयक 2022 के तहत राज्य में महिलाओं को सरकारी सेवाओं में 20 से 30 प्रतिशत क्षैतिज आरक्षण की व्यवस्था की गई थी। यह प्रावधान उन महिलाओं के लिए किया जा रहा है। राज्य गठन के दौरान तत्कालीन सरकार ने 20 प्रतिशत क्षैतिज आरक्षण शुरू किया था। जुलाई 2006 में इसे 30 प्रतिशत कर दिया था।
